About Courts News

Independent reporting on the UK court system

Our Mission

Courts News exists to provide clear, accessible reporting on the UK court system. We cover the news, explain court procedure, and provide reference material for anyone who needs to understand how courts work in England and Wales.

Our audience includes litigants, legal professionals, court staff, advice workers, students, and anyone with an interest in civil justice, criminal justice, or family law. We aim to be factual, balanced, and useful.

What We Cover

We aggregate and curate news from across the court system, including:

  • Civil court procedure and case management
  • High Court and Court of Appeal decisions
  • Family court developments
  • Criminal justice news
  • HMCTS reform and modernisation
  • Court fees and legal aid
  • Access to justice

Editorial Independence

Our news feed aggregates stories from a wide range of sources. We do not write or edit the news articles that appear in our feed: they link directly to their original sources. Our original content (guides, reference pages, and FAQs) is written by our editorial team and is clearly distinct from aggregated news.

Who We Are

Courts News is published by HCEO LTD, which also operates Courts.uk, a court reference platform. While both publications share common ownership, they serve different audiences and purposes:

  • Courts News is an editorial publication aimed at a general audience, providing news coverage and accessible guides.
  • Courts.uk is a reference platform with a court finder, fee guides, court forms directory, and glossary.

We believe in transparent ownership. You should always know who is behind the publications you read.

Accuracy

We strive for accuracy in all our original content. Our guides and reference pages are based on primary legislation and official guidance. However, this publication does not provide legal advice. If you need advice on a specific legal matter, please consult a qualified solicitor or contact one of the advice organisations listed in our directory.
